Javier Solana has had without doubt a long and successful political career, not only within our country but also abroad. He served as Foreign Affairs Minister of Spain under Felipe González from 1992 to 1995, when he was appointed Secretary General of NATO until 1999. Later on, he became European Union's High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy until 2009.
